My girl

What a difference a good long cry and a 2+ hr nap makes, I feel way better….:)  Ok, so it was Ally not me.  I am sure there is much more grieving to come but when Ally woke up, I thought it might be an opportunity for me to break thru to her.  So I grabbed the magna-doodle and showed what it was all about.  Within minutes I had her laughing and playing with it.  Most important though was that I could touch her and so could Jo.  I have no doubt this is not over, but it is a great ending to a long day.  She also ate a little for us.  Very little, but it's a start.  We will see how breakfast goes tomorrow morning.  I wish you all could be here for this.  There is something extraordinary about this.  Good night from Taiyuan.

Congrats! She is beautiful! You guys are amazing. So excited to meet her. Safe travels and know how many people here love her already. Soph got lots of new girl toys from Santa, so we will have to have a playdate. Thanks for all the information. So awesome!

She looks like she's doing great-although it is hard to hear your child grieve, this is a GOOD thing! She has learned to bond with others- and will makae that transition with you two next! Oh the memories it brough tback seeing the Shanxi Civil Affairs office-on the exact same couch we sat on when we got our daughter there almost 8 months ago-and we also dealt with the staring-LOTS AND LOTS of staring-but, I took it in stride and knew that the people were just curious!
Our DD also came from a big foster family, and she grieved for four days, and then, like a switch she totally came around!
Have you had a chance to experience the Taiyaun Walmart yet :)
Looking forward to the next post!

P.S. Are you staying at the Shanxi grand? If so, you need to order their room service fried spaghetti-AWESOME!

Hi Jim and Joey, loved the update it really makes us feel closer to you and how this must be going. She couldn't be any cuter, what a smile! I am so glad you have had such good, sound advice from others who have experienced this so these things do not come as a surprise. Sounds like you have a great network of friends to share this with. I know you are asleep and hopefully it is a good one for all THREE of you. Love, Mom

Your daughter has the most beautiful smile! I'm so glad she woke up happier. Our son left behind an awesome foster family, and I know it is going to take him some time to fully grieve the loss of them. We were only there one month ago, and seeing your pictures brings back so many wonderful memories. Best of luck on the rest of your stay in Taiyuan and in China.
